Author contribution:

The division of labour between the joint editors was as follows: text and transcriptions of vol. 1 and half of vol. 2 and appendices A-D were by Stephen Bygrave. The remainder was the work of Stephen Bending. Bygrave produced first drafts for sections of the introduction on children, dialogue and education (totalling about half of its eventual 10,000 words); each editor then revised the other’s drafts; textual notes, bibliography, and chronology were also equally divided between editors.
