<07> This paper investigates the statistical properties of dependence for state-based models. It compliments our Formal Aspects of Software Engineering conference paper which explored control dependencies of EFSMs. This work was undertaken on a project with Motorola who suffered from overly large state-based models and was supported by an EPSRC grant (EP/F059442/1). The results over ten Extended Finite State Machines (EFSM) show that the slice size of EFSMs is notably larger than that for program slice size.
