A new fictitious time for the dynamic relaxation (DXDR) method
Optimisation of the time step to enhance solution convergence constitutes the first major development of the DR algorithm for numerical structural analysis since 1993. It resulted from Anglo-Iranian collaboration begun in Lancaster. Others have used it in novel applications (see EPEC 2010 – IEEE Electrical Power and Energy Conference 2010, art. No. 5697248 and Int. J. Solids and Structures, 48(5), 637-647, 2011). Moreover, it has provided the catalyst for others to enhance the DR algorithm further via optimisation of damping coefficients and load increments (see Computers and Structures, 89 (9-10), 783-794, 2011, Journal of Structural Engineering, 137 (1), 109-116, 2011).
