Additional information

This volume was conceived, designed, and co-edited by Christopher Knüsel. He is co-author of the substantial Introduction and Conclusion, and has a single authored chapter ‘Courteous knights and cruel avengers’ (work supported by a British Academy Small grant). The extremely strong editorial control is reflected in all papers having two external anonymous peer reviews, in addition to a review by each of the editors, and the overall coherence of the volume. It is the first book to deal with the bioarchaeology of human conflict and in this multi-disciplinary and multi-period way, and on an international scale (see figs 1.1-1.2).
