The first step in the formulation of a general methodology for predicting moisture transport into adhesively bonded joints taking into account the significant effect of environmental history.   A novel pretreatment used in this work is the subject of a joint patent with Bombardier Aerospace and is currently undergoing industrial trials (david.bahrani@aero.bombardier.com).
