Additional information

This paper directly highlights, for the first time, the key cause of significant systematic error in the ubiquitous gas adsorption technique used for obtaining pore size distributions of heterogeneous catalysts. The findings reported call into question the conclusions drawn from gas adsorption data in many studies involving structural characterisation of heterogeneous catalysts.
