Additional information

This paper describes an advancement of theoretical knowledge and understanding in the field of data mining and fuzzy reasoning. It demonstrates a new mathematical model of rule based simplification through a modification of standard fuzzy c-means algorithm by incorporating an inclusion based measure to common metric distance. The paper is a joint work between Birmingham, Salford and Rotterdam Universities. This work has been employed as a basis for an EU project led by Prof Kaymak in the field of nature-inspired smart information system as well in finance sector. It also initiated a number of PhD projects.
