Additional information

High performance fibre materials used for body armour have very low surface friction; this has affected the ballistic performance of body armour. Plasma treatment is able to alter the surface morphology and chemical component of the outermost treated substrate surface. In this paper, N2 and (CH3)2Cl2Si plasma gases were selected to modify Kevlar fabric surface. The results from both practical and theoretical indicated that plasma surface modification of ballistic fabric would improve the performance to weight ratio of body armour. Sun was the author who drafted the paper and the concept generator as a RA. Chen was the project manager.
