Additional information

<22>This paper describes a causal probabilistic model regarding the caring procedure for wheelchair users with spinal injuries. Development and testing of the expert system presented here was based on real data on spinal injury patient care provided by Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Using patient’s observations, the model computes the probability distribution over the possible conditions associated with the caring procedure. Evaluation of this system using several real-world cases demonstrated its accurate, reliable diagnostic performance, leading to test deployment as a 24 hour consultation tool for an actual patient where the results were equally promising.
