City and Region is a free online database which assembles rent data relating to the metropolitan region (Kent, Essex, and the City of London) between 1577 and 1914. As well as quantitative data, the site includes processed graphs, details of leases and tenancies, and contemporary maps, plans, surveys and other images. The database represents a major research enterprise investigating records in local and national archival collections. Ormrod drew up the research agenda for the investigation and compilation of the materials, and the database reflects significant research themes in early modern economic and social history.
