Additional information

Severe slugging is one factor leading to early abandonment of wells, typically leaving 60% of reserves in the reservoir (Dr. Paul Oram, Chief Engineer, BP, Paul.Oram@uk.bp.com). This research developed a new technology that enables energy companies to extend the lifetime of a well and extract more from the reservoir (joe.shen@chevron.com). Outputs of this research include a US patent, US 7857059B2 (granted) and a follow-on project supported by Chevron Energy Technology Company to complete a further stage of evaluation, demonstrating that the key device can be used in a pipeline (joe.shen@chevron.com)
