Additional information

High quality laser mirrors are an essential element in inertial confinement fusion (ICF) experiments where multiple high power lasers are focussed onto deuterium targets to induce fusion. This work has shown that high quality can now be obtained over large area mirrors and has led to great interest from the ICF and also the gravitational wave community as well as increased sales of the plasma source described here. Funding for an iCASE studentship has been obtained for the development of the next generation of plasma source.
