Additional information

Flash is a 50 minute multi-media piece of spoken word theatre which focuses on revelations and epiphanies in everyday life. This tour was supported by an Arts Council Grant. The show was written by performance poets Lucy English, Sara-Jane Arbury, Glenn Carmichael and Anna Freeman, each taking responsibility for one of four separate narratives, using a combination of peer review and improvisation. These were combined on stage without sacrificing the individual voice of the poet. The show combines poetry, flash fiction, digital soundscapes, visuals and choreography in a flexible, dynamic style for audiences to engage with in an interactive and accessible manner. The topics explored in the narratives include homelessness, family life, bereavement and sudden illness. During the tour we ran creative writing workshops to encourage the participants to write about their own experiences. Flash performed at eight venues from 2010-11 including Bristol Poetry Festival , the Ledbury Poetry Festival and the Bristol Old Vic festival of Experimental Theatre.
