Numerical simulation of hydrogen impinging jet flame using flamelet generated manifold reduction
Using advanced direct numerical simulation (DNS) and flamelet generated manifolds (FGM) based on detailed chemical kinetics, this multi-disciplinary work involving international collaborations identified the effects of buoyancy and jet shear instability on the dynamics of the non-premixed hydrogen impinging jet flame for the first time. The original DNS-FGM results provided detailed information and insight on the reacting flow field, which is important to understand hydrogen combustion for clean energy conversion.
