As first author, Mueller coordinated the measurements and data analysis of all European EARLINET lidar stations during a unique dust transport event. He participated in the lidar measurements in northwest Africa and collaborated with and supplied data to a dust transport modeling team in order to achieve a comprehensive validation of the lidar-network results.
