Additional information

This is the first work in the meshfree community to address locking in thin walled structures by a mixed variational formulation. The proposed approach is the most general to-date as all previous techniques are limited to specific basis functions or only alleviate, rather than solve, the locking problem. Its most important aspect is that it lays the foundation for a general way of optimally enriching meshfree formulations. This work won PhD prizes at the International XFEM 2011 Conference (http://www.xfem2011.com/index.html) and the ACME-UK conference (http://www.acmeuk.org/).
