Additional information

Paper describes how Sobol method for sensitivity analysis is applied to land-surface modelling, and adapted to account for multiple objectives of energy, water and carbon fluxes. Such models are used for land parametrisation of earth-system models, used to form Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) assessments. Idea is to discover which parameters most influence performance of these models and hence reduce number of parameters that require calibration. Method is applied to 8 separate sites from NASA Large-Scale Biosphere-Atmosphere experiment in Amazonia. Work led to NASA Earth and Science Fellowship (NNX09AO33H, $60k, 2009-12) for Rosolem.
