Additional information

A new source for intact extracellular matrix was identified in the gall bladder for tissue engineering and regeneration applications. This paper reports the functional efficacy of this new scaffold for staple-line reinforcement. This Enterprise Ireland funded study, resulted in IP and commercialisation activity. The platform technology was licensed to Viscus Biologics LLC., Ohio, USA, a subsidiary of the Irish company, Proxy Biomedical Ltd., and is now being commercialised as CHOLOMEM. http://www.viscusbiologics.com/platforms, with the inspiration and artwork being taken from this paper.
