Mood boards: Current practice in learning and teaching strategies and students' understanding of the process
This paper explores the process of mood board creation from a student perspective as a critical part of the design process. The findings form a substantial foundation to better understand good practice in higher education learning and teaching methods for mood board creation, exploring their potential as idea generation tools. The weaknesses in the teaching methods and the pitfalls of the process from a student's perspective are highlighted and recommendations for good practice are given. Naturalistic and participant observation techniques were performed with 140 participants in four case study exercises and a questionnaire survey with 183 respondents conducted.
