An earlier work, which I co-authored, led to a couple of decades of academic studies by many workers developing mathematical models of idealised ventilation flows (ignoring various heat transfers). The present paper shows how these models can be extended to incorporate heat transfers in an elegant way, and will allow the mathematical models to be developed further to give more applicable results, and is likely to have a significant impact on the field.
