Additional information
Nichols contributed significantly to this paper, more than any other co-author, many of whom contributed solely at the level of data co-investigatorship. Nichols was responsible for much of the intellectual content of the study, reduced and analysed the Hubble Space Telescope data employed, created most of the figures, and provided theoretical expertise regarding the effect of the solar wind on the magnetospheres of Jupiter and Saturn.
