This research resulted from collaboration between the University of Cyprus, the US Naval Research Laboratory and the University of Maryland College Park, with support from a Marie Curie Transfer of Knowledge grant (ToK-DEV Contract MTKD-CT-2004-014199). In addition to investigating new turbulence physics, the simulations provide the first published validation of a novel set of software modules. This led to the article being highlighted by the Journal as being among its top 20 most downloaded articles (http://pof.aip.org/features/most_downloaded?month=2&year=2008)
