Additional information

<22>This paper investigates an extension of a widely-used stochastic ranking method which is hybridized with a recently proposed simulated annealing hyper-heuristic within a local search and genetic algorithm framework. The intelligent hybridisation of heuristic methods is a key contribution of the paper. The area of hyper-heuristics is currently attracting the attention of major research groups across the UK and the world. This nurse rostering approach is robust and flexible. The computational results show that the algorithm outperforms all the methods in the literature on the instances that it addresses.
