Performance of portland/silica fume cement concrete produced with recycled concrete aggregate
Doubts about the performance and difficulties in producing binary cement concrete with a potentially more variable material, such as recycled aggregates, deters many potential producers and users. Therefore, the technical data reported are helping to create confidence among all sectors of the construction industry for the greater use of recycled aggregate as a valuable resource. The results will also inform the BS and CEN technical committees charged with considering the increasing acceptability of recycled aggregates, and will promote further reduction of the burden on primary aggregate resources and landfill sites, thereby contributing to sustainable development.
