Livingstone’s paper, ‘Decentred meaning: ceramic materiality – relocating process and technique’ is a peer reviewed paper, published and presented at ‘Crafticulation & Education International Conference’ University of Helsinki 2008. Livingstone makes a theoretical exploration of digital media and ceramics, which examines the notion of decentred meaning towards an expanded reading. The integration of digital media and ceramics is used to examine the notion of authenticity within contemporary ceramics practice, where specifically these published texts explore the interface between the two very different mediums and employ a particular focus on interpretation and critique from a ceramic perspective. Livingstone’s research papers on ceramics and the digital interface, builds on the research undertaken within his practice. These papers bring a unique and under-researched area of investigation within the field, and as such this research adds to wider current critical debate regarding digital media and its relationship to the crafts. The paper was published in ‘Proceedings of the Crafticulation & Education Conference' Techne Series A:14/2009,
ISBN: 978-952-10-5578-2.

Further development and dissemination of this theoretical area of research includes the peer reviewed paper ‘Ceramic Practice and the Digital Interface: Video and Ceramic - a Discipline Activated Reading’ presented at the
Australian Ceramics Triennale International Conference, Sydney 2009, published in the online Journal ‘Celsius’ pp:61-72, http://sydney.edu.au/sca/pdfs/research/Celsius_Issue_1.pdf which is also available on CD from The University of Sydney/Sydney College of the Arts.
