Additional information

This paper contributes to the practical application of adaptive filters. Using the Dichotomous Coordinate Descent (DCD) algorithm, invented and patented by Zakharov, a new recursive least squares adaptive filtering algorithm is derived and implemented on FPGAs showing orders of magnitude improvement in implementation area. Results from this work have lead to an inter-institution grant between University of York and University of Sao-Paulo, Brazil, to extend these techniques towards solving sparse identification problems (e.g IEEE TSP, vol.61 (12), 2013).
