<13>Results from collaboration between Faragher, BAE Systems and the Australian Centre for Field Robotics. The work was part of the development of the NAVSOP positioning system, which gained huge media coverage in summer 2012. The publicity helped BAE Systems attract good new recruits. The machine learning aspects of the system, not published in the paper, were patented by BAE Systems (patent numbers: WO/2011/042727, WO/2011/042725, WO/2012/175944). The work earned Faragher the BAE Systems Early Career Engineer of the Year in 2010.
