Visualization and analysis tools for low-frequency propagation in a generalized 3D acoustic space
This paper describes the development of an FDTD simulation toolbox. The work led to a consultancy with JL Audio (Brett Haynes, bhanes@jlaudio.com) to refine and expand the toolbox for use in their research and for customer support for speaker positioning with home theatre systems. The toolbox has also been used for subwoofer research at Harman International where Todd Welti (todd.welti@harman.com) used it for simulating non-rectangular topologies as well as comparing results from his own simulation software. As the software is available online (www.adamjhill.com/fdtd), there are a number of individuals using the software for academic and non-academic purposes worldwide.
