Additional information

<26> Many studies in computer-based surgical simulation for plastic surgery lack rigour because they either validate on synthetic data or rely on inadequate material data reported in the literature. Here, we address this issue by simulating human skin, including material tests on real human skin samples. We then model material behaviour followed by finite element modelling and user interaction with force-feedback. As such, this work sets a new standard in computerised surgical simulation by addressing the entire process, from material testing to GUI development and implementation.
