‘Dear Participant’ – training, rehearsal and response in the work of Goat Island performance group and Francis Alÿs
The article engages with extensive critical analysis of live theatre performances by experimental theatre companies and visual artists who fall outside of the mainstream canon and who have therefore not been extensively documented. The scholarship draws upon extensive rehearsal processes as they relate to current theories of performance and representation. Substantial aspects of the research are informed by a practice-based approach to writing about live performance that draws upon the specialist knowledge of Performance Studies and theatre scholarship concerned with contemporary live art and performance theatre.
