Additional information

This paper describes the first musculoskeletal model with a complete shoulder girdle, upper arm and forearm, implemented in the commercial modelling package Simm (Musculo Graphics), which can run both inverse and forward dynamic simulations. This is the model used in Chadwick et al. (2009, IEEE Trans. Biomed. Eng. 56:941-8) to design a novel neuroprosthesis for high cervical level spinal cord injury. It was also the basis for the implicit formulation described in Bogert et al.,2011 (Procedia IUTAM 2:297-316) that allowed forward simulations to be performed at real-time speed.
