Efficient Object Localisation Using Sparsely Distributed Passive RFID Tags
RFID tags are used extensively in applications from warehousing to hospitalisation. It is reported widely that you cannot improve both accuracy and precision using existing RFID technology. The aim of our research was to challenge this understanding and show that a sparsely distributed RFID network, using a special pattern (V-Z shape) improved both precision and accuracy can be achieved. The idea for this project originated from an EU funded project in collaboration with Delft University. Follow on research has been funded by BMW to apply sensor fusion for identifying and tracking objects in relation to automotive applications.
