Additional information

Use of bio-diesel in internal combustion engines is being encouraged by the Renewable Energy sector, resulting in many operational challenges including management of difference in properties of Bio-diesel and fossil Diesel so that the Engines designed for Diesel fuel can run effectively with Bio-diesel. For this purpose an analytical frame work has been developed that provides effect of Bio-Diesel properties on the performance of various engine components and processes, for example, on fuel pumps, fuel filters and on air-fuel mixing behaviour. This university sponsored work has paved way for commercialisation of an inbuilt heating system to manage properties of bio-diesel fuel.
