Additional information

<17>This SIGIR 2012 paper (top conference in information retrieval) is an output of my EPSRC Autoadapt project (EP/F035705/1,12/2008-5/2012). It proposes a novel approach for adapting the conceptual hierarchy built from a document collection with collective user search logs to derive query recommendations. Follow-on research is being conducted with Dr. Ji-Rong Wen (jrwen@microsoft.com), former leader of the Web Data Management group at Microsoft Research Asia, by further developing the approach with Bing search logs. Preliminary study shows an improvement over Bing's original ranking results on queries with high click entropy.
