Double-weighted statement

This output took several years – with the assistance of a sabbatical - to research, synthesise and analyse. Equivalent to at least four substantive journal articles/chapters, this study carried out a substantial review of over 250 empirical studies in order to rigorously compare for the first time the quality of news output on competing media systems in different Western democracies. This was recognised in a 2013 review of the book in the journal British Politics, where Journalism Professor Jackie Harrison acknowledged the “depth and width” of the study.
