Classification and immunohistochemical scoring of breast tissue microarray spots
<23> This paper proposes a processing pipeline for image analysis of tissue microarrays and shows how a major bottleneck in their use for high-throughput analysis of cancer tissues can be eased. The methods are evaluated on images from an important breast cancer trial. This work expands and combines aspects of three earlier conference papers. It results from collaborative research with pathology (Robertson) and surgical oncology (Thompson), funded through grants from the Breast Cancer Research Trust (£51k) and Chief Scientist Office (CZB/4/761, £75k), both with McKenna as Principal Investigator. It has led to a further studentship, part-funded by EPSRC, on this topic.
