<20> With PowerUp! we created the first fully accessible 3D virtual world game, enabling disabled users to interact in a multi-player game environment with disabled or non-disabled users. IBM Corporate commissioned Hanson and her team to make this game accessible to users regardless of visual, hearing, motor, or cognitive ability. Hanson lead the project team throughout both development and testing phases of this work. This ACM Transactions publication reports empirical work which validated the ground-breaking 3D accessibility features for the game. This game was launched for the (US) National Engineers’ Week 2008 and continues to be available for online use, http://www.powerupthegame.org/faq.html
