Significance of output:

A very simple and robust technique for growing ultra-thin high-quality films of gold monocrystal, whose key attributes are absence of granularity and reduced plasmonic losses. They also enable full control over nano-patterning, dramatically reducing the appearance of pattern defects typical for polycrystal-based nano-structures. These advantages were demonstrated by fabricating extremely complex state-of-the-art metamaterial with strong plasmonic resonance at telecom wavelengths. This recent work represents significant step towards mitigating losses in plasmonic metamaterials and devices, highlighted in OSA's “Spotlight on Optics” http://www.opticsinfobase.org/spotlight/summary.cfm?URI=oe-20-9-9545, already leading to 2 invited talks (SPIE Photonics Europe and Meta).
