Significance of output:

The paper proposes the first Hardware Description Language based approach to model a complete sensor node holistically, with emphasis on energy generation and consumption. The proposed technique enables efficient optimisation for best energy performance of energy-harvester powered sensor autonomous sensor nodes and the accuracy of the proposed approach was thoroughly validated through simulations and experimental measurements. The concepts that underpin this paper were instrumental in winning EPSRC Grant EP/G067740/1 ”Next Generation Energy-Harvesting Electronics: Holistic Approach”, £1.6m.
