Significance of output:
This international collaboration led to a completely new approach to the problem in which a system is identified from measurements. It replaces established approaches based on time invariance with the concept of the energy stored by the system. This leads to considerable computational advantages and has led to further applications in the identification of Port-Hamiltonian and Lagrangian systems.
