Significance of output:

The first demonstration of induced transparency and broadband slow light in metamaterial structures of subwavelength thickness. Our work led to three invited talks (6th International Workshop on Nanophotonics, Taipei, Taiwan, 11/3/08; Metamaterials 2008, Pamplona, Spain, 23 - 26/9/08; ICMAT 2009, Singapore, 28/6/09 -3/7/09) and to the award of the IoP Thesis Prize in 2010. This work provided novel design rules for metamaterials and was followed by world leading groups in the research field (O. Hess from University of Surrey, C.Soukoulis from Iowa State University, H. Giessen from University of Stuttgart).
