Additional information

This paper proposes a methodology for “good design” of new assistive devices for surgery as well as putting in focus advances in robotic surgery. The work is in collaboration with a Consultant Neurosurgeon at a local hospital, and has also contributed to Renishaw (Neurological Products Division (NPD) - http://www.renishaw.com/en/delivering-precision--6332) supporting financially a project on automated skull drilling (Kenneth.Nai@Renishaw.com, paul.fielder@renishaw.com ), as well as in collaborating in research for innovative techniques for neurosurgical procedures.
