Additional information

This work stems from a long term collaborative partnership with Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, on the electrical degradation processes in cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), a material utilised as the primary electrical insulation in commercial high voltage power transmission cables. This paper has important consequences for condition monitoring methodologies employed by power system network operators for asset management of high voltage equipment. In particular, it addresses the interpretation of condition monitoring data obtained from installed HV power cable systems.
