Catalytic and chaperone-like functions in an intrinsically disordered protein associated with desiccation tolerance.
This paper, resulting from interdepartmental and international collaborations, has been described by an independent expert in the field of intrinsically disordered proteins as 'of special interest': Tompa (2011) Curr Op Str Biol 21:419. It led to (a) an invitation to contribute to an invitation-only special edition of Molecular Biosystems, published as Chakrabortee et al. (2012) Mol. Biosyst. 8:210-219; and (b) invitations to present at international meetings in 2012, e.g. the Gordon Research Conference on Intrinsically Disordered Proteins, in Vermont, USA, and a conference on water stress proteins in Tsukuba, Japan, 2012.
