Additional information

The methodologies and models presented in this paper represent a step change from current design approaches, which rely on simplistic and often inappropriate assumptions, by specifically using techniques tailored to individual system elements; they can hence account for the typical multiple flow modifications and interactions in property-level systems of any size. The models developed within this paper were used extensively in the DOWNPIPE project, funded by EPSRC (EP/F038143/1, £297k) under their Adaptation and Resilience to a Changing Climate theme (http://www.arcc-cn.org.uk/project-summaries/completed-projects/downpipe/), and have thus been shown to be valuable tools to help address some of the future challenges of climate change.
