Additional information

Urban Wildscapes is the first edited collection of writings about urban ‘wilderness’ landscapes. These landscapes are re-evaluated from the fields of landscape architecture, fine art and the social and natural sciences, and Sheridan's contribution is the first from the field of architecture and urban design. As a pioneering publication by Routledge the book is expected to have a wide academic and professional readership.

The research presented in this publication should be understood as the culmination of a number of supporting outputs. The invitation to contribute a chapter to this book stemmed from both Sheridan's previous academic publication - Berlins Indeterminate Territories: The Space Of Subculture In The City published in Field Journal (Ulster Institutional Repository [UIR] Item ID 17093) and the further development of this field of research in high profile projects including the International Competition Winning Design Proposal for “Dublin Docklands Civic Square” August 2009. (UIR Item ID 17616) Sheridan was also invited to exhibit this proposal in the Royal Hibernian Academy 2012 Annual Exhibition (UIR ID 25080). This and the Portable Art Space project which also comprised a significant element of this practice based research have also been published in The Berlin Model BM-05 Tarp Architecture Manual: Insidious Urbanism (UIR Item ID 25083) and elements of this research were presented in a high profile symposium hosted by the London Garden Museum under the Title- Urban Wildscapes to Urban Design (UIR Item ID 21576) and under the title Agile Architecture: Mobile Strategies to Design and Practice at the PLACE Conference Creativity & Innovation in the Northern Ireland Construction Industry 2011 (UIR Item ID 17621) Sheridan has also been asked to give a number of public lectures on this topic including at the University of Queensland Australia (October 2010) and University of Limerick Ireland (November 2010)
