This research began with an exploration of movement in the human form and its translation to ceramic medium. The context of dance became relevant during residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts, Canada. The dramatic setting of the performance, particularly the effects of theatrical lighting was a main area of focus. Movement and the relationship between the object and its interplay with light drove this work towards solo exhibition commissioned by the Millennium Court Arts Centre, 2009 where work was presented in controlled lighting settings to fully explore this question. Forms such as ‘Acrobat’ acquired by the National Museum of Ireland, and ‘Switch Form’ acquired by the Ulster Museum, sought to explore choreographed movement in contemporary dance, and its relationship to light. This exhibition toured Wexford Arts Centre, Strule Arts Centre, Omagh, and Farmleigh Gallery, Dublin as a 2 person show ‘Earth Spun, Frozen Fire’, commissioned by the Office of Public Works. It was opened by EU Commissioner, Charles MacCreevy.

‘Sentinel’ was selected for Gold Coast Ceramic Art Award and Taiwan Ceramics Biennale, 2008 and acquired by the Yinnge Ceramics Museum permanent collection (Catalogue ISBN:9789860146745. Selector: Claude Champy).

‘Floating Outcrop’ was selected by the National Craft Gallery of Ireland to represent them at SOFA Chicago 2008, ISBN 9780978920616, and then acquired to the Embassies Collection of the Irish Dept. of Foreign Affairs.

‘Departures’ was reviewed by Dr. Audrey Whitty, in Ceramics Art and Perception, ISSN 1035-1841 and Keramik Magazin, no. 4 2009.

‘Last Column’ was selected for the National Craft Gallery’s ‘Object’ exhibition, pairing works of Craft with the collection of the Arts Council of Ireland.

‘Last Column’ was exhibited at the Musee National de la Ceramique, Paris during the International Academy of Ceramics exhibition and acquired by the permanent collection of Atelier d’Artes’ de France (2010).
