Additional information

This work is the first high impact journal output of an international research project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC 5107392). For the first time, it reports the application of graphene oxide as a nano-reinforcement in polar rubber materials. The research has important implications in lifetime extension of products using elastomeric products. The results led to a follow-on joint grant (NSFC 51073092) and three publications on RSC Advances (2012, 2, 4683-4689), J Phys Chem C (2011, 115, 11673-11677) and J Appl Polym Sci (2013, doi: 10.1002/app.39046).
