Numerical model evaluation of tidal stream energy resources in the Ría de Muros (NW Spain)

This paper presented a valuable methodology for assessing the tidal stream resource via numerical modelling and thus contributed to the research community, as demonstrated via subsequent cites/use by leading research groups. The method was illustrated through a case study, an estuary in NW Spain, where it enabled to determine the sites with greatest potential for tidal stream energy and the energy output that a tidal farm would produce at those sites. This prompted much local attention for the group's work in marine energy in the press, TV and regional government.
