Additional information

This paper is the first to develop an analytical solution to predict the true buckling behaviour of cold-formed channel sections subject to combined compression and bending. The existing literature only discussed such sections either in compression or bending alone. However in reality the sections are subjected to both compression and bending simultaneously. The new proposed equations will be beneficial to practising design engineers. This work has been extended by the group to study the buckling behaviour of such sections at elevated temperatures, which was presented in ASME13 (Jeju, S Korea) and PSSC2013 (Singapore).
